That’s why, to celebrate the release of the unromantic comedy of the year, "The Roses," streaming on Disney+ from December 3rd, we are pleased to share a special indulgence: the recipe for our luxurious Rose Velvet Hot Chocolate.

We have taken our creamy, beloved 62% Dark Chocolate base and infused it with a sophisticated, subtle touch of natural rose water. It’s a flawless balance of bittersweet depth and delicate floral aroma, perfectly mirroring the film's nuanced heart.

Your Recipe for Velvet Perfection

Below is the simple guide to preparing this beautiful, bittersweet sip.

Remember, the key to Rococo-level quality lies in the detail: use high-quality milk and use only the finest rose water.

Ingredient Quantity Notes
Rococo 62% Dark Chocolate 45 g (1.6 oz) Our rich and luxurious dark chocolate is available online and in store. 
Whole Milk 200 ml (7 fl oz) High-quality, full-fat milk for necessary creaminess. For a non-dairy version, swap for a barista-grade alt-milk. 
Natural Sweetener 1 tsp (optional) Maple syrup, agave, or sugar, to taste. 
Pinch of Salt Optional, for enhancing the dark chocolate depth.

 

The Rose Element (choose one, depending on your cupboard contents!)

Method 1: Natural Rose Water (The Baking Staple)

  • Rose Water (Culinary Grade): 1/2 teaspoon (Tsp)

    • Note: Since the rose water is carries less intense flavour than essential oil, you may need slightly more to ensure the fragrance comes through. Use a trusted, high-quality culinary rose water.

Method 2: Luxurious Rose Otto Oil (For Connoisseurs)

  • Edible Rose Otto Essential Oil (Rosa damascena): 1-2 Drops

    • Suggestion: Use a highly-regarded, food-grade brand. This oil is highly concentrated; one small toothpick dipped in the oil and then swirled into the finished drink is often enough. Add the oil only after the hot chocolate is removed from the heat.

Garnishes (The Rococo Finish)

  • Rococo Milk Rose Thins | 1-2 | Shaved or placed whole on top. These provide a beautiful, sweet contrast to the dark chocolate.

  • Whipped Cream (Optional) | 1 dollop | Lightly sweetened.

  • Edible Rose Petals (Dried) | Small pinch | For an authentic and visual flourish.

Method

1. Create the Dark Chocolate Paste

  • In a small saucepan, combine the Rococo 62% Dark Chocolate and the Pinch of Salt (we use Halen Môn's Welsh Sea Salt flakes)

  • Add just a splash (approx. 2 tablespoons / 30ml) of the Whole Milk.

  • Place the saucepan over low heat. Stir constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and forms a thick, smooth, dark paste.

2. Blend and Heat

  • Gradually whisk in the remaining Whole Milk until the mixture is uniform and completely smooth.

  • Increase the heat to medium-low and continue to whisk gently until the hot chocolate is steaming hot. Do not boil.

3. Flavour and Final Taste

  • Remove the saucepan from the heat.

  • If using Rose Water: Stir in the Rose Water (1/2 Tsp).

  • If using Rose Otto Oil: Add 1-2 tiny drops of the essential oil and stir thoroughly.

  • Add the Natural Sweetener now, if desired, and stir until dissolved.

4. Serve and Garnish

    • Pour the Rococo Rose Velvet Hot Chocolate into a warmed Rococo mug.

    • Top with whipped cream, if using.

    • Decorate: Arrange the Rococo Milk Rose Thin(s) beautifully.

    • Finish with a small sprinkle of Edible Rose Petals over the top.
