ROCOCO CHOCOLATES COLLECTS 10 GONGS PLUS A SPECIAL AWARD

The Academy of Chocolate Awards was held at Claridge’s Hotel for the 2017 event. This prestigious, and increasingly internationally recognised event, saw 900 entries this year, showing that the UK chocolate scene is growing in reputation and creativity.

Chantal Coade OBE, founder of Rococo Chocolates was joined by Head Chocolatier Karen and the entire Rococo Kitchen team of Jordan, Mireille, Paul, Nick and Veronica, to collect all of the Awards, including two of the very few Golds awarded this year: for Citrus Rooibos and Yuzu & Sake, both ganaches from Rococo’s Couture range of Fresh chocolates, as well as a gold for Orange Blossom Neroli Bee Bar.

The surprise of the evening, came when Rococo were also awarded the inaugural Golden Bonbon Award, for the highest scoring chocolate of the year!

That was awarded for Citrus Rooibos – a dark chocolate dome, filled with a layer of sharp, blood orange jelly and a Valrhona ganache infused with rooibos tea. Both of the Gold winning ganaches were created for Rococo’s ‘Round the World’ seasonal range last year, when the chocolatiers worked to discover and share new flavours and ingredients from around the globe. Citrus Rooibos represented South Africa, and the mouth-tingling acidity of the Yuzu & Sake was for Japan.

The Orange Blossom Neroli bee bar, which won Gold in its category of flavoured milk bars, is a 50% dark milk, infused with organic Neroli essential oil for the evocative and delicate flavour of orange blossoms.

As well as the gold, Rococo also won four Silvers for Lychee & Thai Lime, Liquorice & Rhubarb, Sticky Toffee Pudding and our Macadamia Gianduja. Plus three Bronzes for the Cashew & xCocoa Nib Cluster, Popcorn Ganache, and panned Caramelised Macadamias & Hazelnuts.

All three Gold Award winning chocolates are available this weekend from our outlets in Belgravia, Chelsea, Covent Garden & Marylebone.
